Pirates! Action, Adventure, and Romance

So, you wanna be a pirate, eh?
Alrighty then! I am Captain Hawk, the most feared pirate captain on the seven seas. Climb aboard and join my crew on the Ocean Empress, or be my enemy aboard the Treader. Here's the positions:

-all forum rules apply
-try to be semi literate
-don't exclude anyone
-read the rules? write i love rules on your form
-no drama outside of the rp
-romance is allowed, just keep it PG-13
-try to keep boy and girl ratio of characters even
-make as many characters as you want, but if you can't handle them, their spots will be opened up
-if you read the rules, put  * by your character's name
-when the time comes, everyone will gain atleast 1 new character temporarily, so that we can have a crew for the Treader (:

Name: Ivelia Hawk

Gender: female

Specialty: battle strategy
Appearance:
History: is actually the third captain of the Ocean Empress. The original was Captain James Hawk, then his son, Captain Nataniel Hawk, and Ivelia was Nathaniel's "daughter". He found her abandoned during a raid when she was 2 years old, and raised her as his own. She's young, but the crew respects her and loves her. She can be kind or cut throat; your choice.

So, this RP sounds fun, and it's the first, so naturally...

Name: Lilly Dusk*

Specialty: Shooting and handicrafts
Appearance: Short bright red hair, green eyes, pale skin. Wears lighter clothing and carries a sword and two pistols.
History: Lilly washed on to the shore of an island 3 years ago, with no memory of her past. She joined the Ocean Empress to meet new people and hopefully find out about what happened before she lost her memories.

Name: Seamus Finnigan*
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Positon: Crew
Specialty: Cartography/Navigation
Appearance: Rustic old English Navy Uniform, tattered brown hat, auburn hair, reddish brown eyes and a bit unshaven. Torn vest. Slighty beer belly. Moderately built. Scar on the cheek.
Persoanlity: generally an easy going guy, but is not always too confident getting to know strangers, causing him to occasionally say stupid things, particulary in tense circumstances. But once out upon the sea, scouting out ahead, and playing with his collection of maps, he's in the zone and full of energy. He's also prone to enjoying a variety of liqours, but despite attempts at wanting to make a collection, he just can't seem to not finish the bottol.
History: Seamus once served in the English Navy as an apprenttice Navigator, until one shrouded day, the ship he was on hit rough tides and the ship was forced to make dock at a rather seedy port. Shortly later, the ship was stolen, and the crew left gaurding it killed; coincidentally, his Master along with them.
With no-one to take him on, he's wandered around the old docks looking for a new craft to sail, and eventually found a spot on the Ocean Empress. He doesn't care where it's going, so long as he gets to see the ocean and lands beyond.

History: Amari is originally was from a well off family that deals with the military. When he was ten he slipped and fell off a horse that ended up losing his eye. After his parents started doting on him he ran away and ended up on the Ocean Empress where he worked his way up to First Mate (or whatever position is open DX)

Appearance:
History: Charlie's past as she tells it is fairly uneventful. She's the daughter of wealthy traders that took off as soon as she was eighteen. Since then she's made a living for herself as a sort of jack of all trades. Between jobs, she's often raking in most of her money through gambling. Charlie can be rather vague and enigmatic, but she is otherwise very unconcerned and aloof. She has an agenda of her own though in joining up with the Ocean Empress.

Captain Ivelia Hawk came out of her quarters dressed as a man like always. She examined the crew scurrying about, getting ready to leave port. A grin tugged at the corners of her mouth. This was a pretty good crew. They'd picked up a few new sea rats while they were here, and the Captain was anxious to break them in. "Mister Reed. Report, please," she ordered/asked as she took the wheel from him.

Amari stood straighter at the sight of his captain. "Captain, the new crew members are fitting in nicely, and it seems to be good sailing from here." He walked over to his captain and handed her a crisp sheet of paper. "This is what we have bought from the port and the money that we have left."

Gale looked up from the crate he was carrying to see his captain talking to another member of the crew. The other crew member was surely the first mate, as he had been overseeing the work the other members were doing.

He set the crate down and took a bow to the two before him. "Captain, could I get someone to show me where the kitchen I'll be working at is? I'm having some difficulty finding it..."

Seamus emerged from below deck, stretching his arms up and letting loose a big sigh of relief. He took a moment to exmine the sky with cheerful grin. He'd been a couple months stuck too long looking for a new captain, and after being turned down on numerous occasions, he was ecstatic that someone had finally hired him.

In his hand he fiddled with a rolled parchment on which he'd been skecthing up a map of the current region, and in the other hand, a bottol of the finest Portelo he'd scrounged up. Then after spying the Captain standing with her First Mate observing the crew, he began to work up the words to say as he presented his gifts as a thankyou for letting him aboard her vessal.

Lilly stood awkwardly on the deck of the ship, trying to figure out what she should be doing. She was glad that she could finally travel the world and discover the secrets of her hidden past, but she couldn't help but feel out of place with the rest of the crew. She wasn't particularly strong, nor was she useful in any craft besides useless things like sewing and knitting.
She took in a deep breath and took a mop that was propped up against the railing and started to clean the deck, observing the various goings-on around the ship and hoping she would be useful in some way to everyone.

Captain Hawk took the paper and examined it carefully. "I do believe it's time for a raid soon..." She said to herself. Ivelia looked back up Amari. "I want us out of this port within thirty minutes. Understood?" She didn't wait for his answer.

The nineteen-year old jumped over the railing to land on the lower level of the deck in front of the new cook. "Gale Blackwater, correct? The kitchen is down this way." She opened a hatch in the deck to reveal stairs leading downward. "To the left. If you find that we are ill equipped, write me a list, and we'll get what you need when we can."

Gale pat the box beside him and picked it up again. "Thank you, and there will be no need. I brought my own tools. Lest we have a shortage of food, This is all we'll be needing."

With that, he picked up the box ran through the instructions in his mind. Unfortunatly, as he began walking down the stairs, he tripped and fell, scattering various kitchenware on the ground. After muttering an oath, he quickly scrambled the contents back into the box.

Amari nodded and and walked to the railing. "Prepare ship for take off. We leave within thirty minutes." He shouted at the crew who complied and started getting the sails down. He stood for a moment enjoying the breeze before walking down the stairs and making himself useful by finding port towns that could use a good raid. Half way down he noticed a crew member drop some things. He walked over and picked up one of the objects that he dropped and held it out to him.

Seamus stood, almost awkardly as he watched the Captain give her commands and direct another crew-mate down towards the kitchens. He was not always the most talkitive among those he did not know, but once sure she'd finished giving commands, he wandered over, fiddling with the map in his hand.

Not sure of how to address a Pirate Captain, having his only experience been served within the Navy, he promtly address her in the only manner he thought sufficient.
"G-good evening, Captain" He spoke quickly as he went for a salute, then awkwardly switched to a bow. "I..I wanted to thankyou... For having me aboard your vessal so I thought I'd show my apprecaiton by gifting you a map I'd been fashioning of the local region and this bottol of Portelo I'd aquired." he spoke with haste as he bowed his head and presented the gifts, his face now bright red.

"Get it together you idiot, must be presentable and relaxed!' he thought to himself.

Since joining the Ocean Empress crew, Charlie had taken to a habit of relaxing on the ship's masts. She turned her head when she heard the First Mate shouting instructions and slowly rose to her feet. Charlie quickly went about, setting up the sails for their departure. She never really fancied spending too much time at the ports and she was more than relieved to set sail to whatever was next on their agenda. Fastening a knot with practiced ease, Charlie took hold of another length of rope and descended to the deck below.

Charlie spied one of the newer ones to join their crew tentatively offering their Captain some sort of gift. She was able to pick up on his formalities and allowed a faint smile of amusement as she deduced an idea of his background. Charlie shook her head slightly and turned her attention to getting everything in order before the ship sailed. Some cargo needed to be secured, but that was about it. Charlie set to work on that task and turned to a young lady who had taken to cleaning.

"Hey you, mind lending me a hand?" She asked the girl with a small wave.

Lilly jumped in surprise when she heard some one call for her. "Oh, uh, coming!" Lilly shouted in return, and trotted over to the one who had spoken to her. This was the first time she had ever been on a pirate ship, or any ship for that matter, and she wasn't completely sure what she could do to help at all, or why the captain would hire some one as useless as she was.

Despite her doubts, she couldn't help but be glad. She had always loved the briny smell of the sea, and the sound of it's crashing waves. She had always longed to sail, and this was a good a time as any.

Ivelia watched the crew get to work and nodded approvingly. She turned on her heel to face Seamus, who had slowly been approaching her. "What is it ye want then?" She noticed two things in his hands that appeared to be gifts. She pushed his hands away before he could speak. "Keep them. You'll repay my letting you aboard with hard work and loyalty. Not with trinkets and tokens of gratitude."

The captain left Finnigan standing there, and climbed the steps back up to the wheel. They were out of port in fifteen minutes. The wind was good, and the seas were calm. "Easy sailing, it seems. Mister Reed! I need to speak with you!"

Finally looking up, Seamus noticed the Captain had dismissed his gesture and walked off.

He let loose a deep sigh. "So much for making a good first impression." He stared at the bottol in his hands for a moment before stuffing his map down his shirt, and popping the bottol.
With the sweet liquid filling his soul, he pumped himself ready for duty, and began to help out preparing the ship once more.

Gale had been rearranging the kitchen when one of the selves holding his pots broke with a loud crash proceeding. "Oh come on! That's the third time!" With a heavy sigh, he looked at the new mess.

"Any help here? I could really use it!" Gale called as he began picking the pots up once more. "Why me? Why, why, why!" was all he could think.
